I had the pleasure of getting a guided tour of the Tom of Finland house today by the curator of the Foundation, Sharp. I had been to the house a couple of times in the past but had never had the chance to really check it out and ask questions. There's an amazing amount of art not just by Tom but by gay artists from all over the world. From iconic old masters of the homoerotic to young contemporary artists in a space that has seen everything from legendary orgies to art openings.
The house and its inhabitants exist for one purpose, to promote and keep alive the art and legacy of Tom. I learned a lot about his art and life today and my appreciation for him deepened. As did my respect and love for the men who carry on in his name.
